Getting Started

• How do I get started?
  
  
  Find a capable professional interior designer. Check credentials, ask for photos of work he’s done, check client lists, interview to determine if you are simpatico. Once hired, determine and compile as much information as you can about your goals. Determine functions of areas to be addressed, color scheme preferred, and style preferred. Tear out pictures in home furnishings magazines to convey preferences to your designer. Budget project goals. Review timing.
  
  
• May I see representative examples of your work?
  
  
  A photo album of finished projects is available. Usually these photos cameo concepts that are seldom exactly what a new client envisions for his own preferences, but will exemplify credibility showing various styles, rooms and budget projects. “Before” and “After” photos drive home the accomplishments.
  
  
• What is your specialty?
  
  
  Creating exactly each client’s aspiration! Style, function, colors, mood – all interpreted and enhanced while “standing in the client’s shoes.” Interpreting my clients vision (not mine) is my success. Adding to his vision is the bonus.
  
  
• What is the usual procedure in planning and expediting?
  
  
  1. An initial consultation on site starts the process – usually after a quick meeting at the Studio or on the telephone. This consultation will acquaint client and designer with each other and will help define the scope of work required.
  2. A letter of agreement will be agreed upon, defining work requested and remuneration amount and timing.
  3. Drawings, material selections and/or furnishings, etc. will be presented per letter of agreement.
  4. Budgeting and scheduling will be estimated.
  5. Engagement of artisans/manufacturers and suppliers. Contracts and proposals confirm all.
  6. Receiving and delivery of goods prior to installation.
  7. Installation of home furnishings/supervision.

• Does Joy work alone?
  
  
  Mirage Interiors is a team. The design work is entirely “Joy.” Manpower and skilled artisans are referred and are tested professionals. Mai does the paperwork and Laurie is Joy’s right arm.
